How Cliporium works

What actually happens between uploading a video and getting clips back.

The pipeline

Every upload goes through the same stages, whichever clip mode you choose:

  1. Transcription. The video's audio is transcribed word for word, with timing. This is what lets captions land on the exact word being spoken, and what a later “find more clips” pass reuses instead of paying to transcribe the same video twice.
  2. Finding moments. How this works depends on the clip mode - see Clip modes. Some modes read the transcript for coherent exchanges; others score the video's own sound and picture, moment by moment.
  3. Framing and rendering. Each moment is cut and reframed for a vertical screen - cropped to a face, to gameplay, or shown as the whole frame, again depending on the mode - with captions burned in if you asked for them.
  4. Delivery. Finished clips land in your dashboard, ready to download, post, or schedule.

Why credits are charged after, not before

Credits for the clips you asked for are set aside before any processing starts, so a moment of high demand can never spend the same credits twice. But you are only actually charged for clips that get made. If a 40-minute video only has three moments worth clipping, you get three clips and pay for three - the rest of what was set aside is returned automatically. See Credits for the exact costs.

What happens to your video

Your upload and its clips are stored privately under your account, never sold, and never used to train anything. The full detail of what is kept and for how long is in the privacy policy.
